A sad day

By now, I think everybody has heard about the school shootings in Connecticut.  Though I know any words I can put down here are just meaningless letters, Please let me say I am truly and deeply saddened by what has happened and I cannot imagine the pain those parents must be feeling. I am truly sorry for your losses.
In the days and weeks to come, we are going to hear from a lot of talking heads on both sides of the gun control issue. It's unfortunate that so many will try to politicize this...now is really not the time. I have mine own thoughts about it, but I am going to keep them to myself for now.

Does anyone know what this is???

Bet you don't. You've seen it's more famous cousin before many times, but I seriously doubt you've ever seen this one. This is the Bisexual pride flag. A lot of people out there have no idea what bisexuality actually is, so in my quest to destroy stereotypes and ignorance worldwide I thought I'd tackle this one next.

football/Fußball/fútbol/soccer

Ok, my brain works in random ways. I actually started to blog about the Euro 2012 tournament. (Spain won BTW. Since Team USA wasn't in the tournament for obvious reasons, I was supporting Germany but Die Mannschaft went out in the semis). But then I thought that since this was a Euro tourney I should use the term "football" because all of the countries involved do. Then I got to thinking about the word "soccer" and that was when I went off the rails....

white privilege

One of the things we were promised in the 08 elections was the first "post racial" president, and an "honest dialogue" about race. So far we haven't gotten it. So here's my go at it.

It's very hard for a white man such as myself to talk about race. Certain members of our society are all to ready to scream "racism" the instant we do anything other than abase ourselves and apologize profusely for for all of the crimes, real and imagined, our race has perpetrated on.....well, everybody.

southwest fail... again

Yet again, Southwest airlines has decided to play morality police. On June 5th a young woman got on a 6 am flight from Vegas to NYC wearing this

father's day

So, it's father's day in the US again. The cliche about getting a bad tie for father's day is as old as father's day itself
Neckties
In fact you'll find myriad web pages and blogs devoted to "bad" father's day gifts (mostly satirical), and every time we have turned on the TV over the last few months every retailer from radio shack to home depot has tried to convince us that we could find the PERFECT gift on their shelves.

Now, I rarely blog about my kids. In fact I never do... the reason for this is I'm one of the few parents out there that understands that the vast majority of the 6 billion people on the planet absolutely don't give a shit about my progeny. Today I make an exception.

This is what I got for father's day. It's not a tie, or a tool, or the latest gadget, but I think it's pretty much the "perfect" gift.

Happy father's day to all the current and future dads out there

mmmmm....beer

"Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy" Ben Franklin

You can't argue with Ben Franklin. That would just be damn un-American. But people can and do argue about WHICH beer. So I think I'll go ahead and throw in my two cents on the subject

omg i'm soo OCD...or not

We have all heard it. Someone saying something like I'm a little bit OCD or I'm soo anorexic, without having any idea what it really means. Those things are serious, crippling mental disorders. Liking to have things neat isn't OCD and skipping meals isn't anorexia. I'll give you some examples:

American chavs...

A year ago I had never heard the word "chav"... now I see it a lot in my meanderings around and through the interwebs. I ran across this question earlier: " Are there chavs in the US?" the answer is a resounding YES!

summertime (NSFW)

Well,  I hope everyone (here in the US) enjoyed their Memorial day. (everybody outside the US, happy......well, Monday) I'll skip the lectures about honoring fallen soldiers,'cause pretty much everybody does that. I'm gonna focus on the other meaning... the start of summer. Yep, it's time again for all those things that make summer awesome.

Like cooking meat with fire...

Hopefully not your face...

Safeway screws up big

Ryan Young Safeway pregnant woman THIS MAN IS A HERO

A pregnant woman is one of the most vulnerable human beings imaginable. In the later stages of pregnancy, even walking is difficult, let alone running. That's one of the reasons we ,as human beings pair off when we reproduce, and are supposed to stay together through pregnancy.

Now, I don't remember if I have shared my opinions about the type of male that hits women. I won't say the word "man" in connection with them. I personally think they forfeit the right to that appellation the minute they lay hands on a woman. That goes double for a expectant mother. Not only are you endangering her, but also her unborn child.

So it's a man's job to protect his woman and unborn child  in this vulnerable time, right? Not if you ask Quyen Van Tran apparently.

I hate to say this guys, but we really do suck (pt 3)

So far we've covered staring (don't), expecting sex in return for a drink (not gonna happen) and following women around like a puppy (pathetic and creepy). Now we come to the third and final part of this primer, and the thing that irritates women, me and the police most... uninvited touching

I hate to say this guys but we really do suck (pt2)

In my last post I talked about the staring problem some of us have. RECAP: We like to look, and they like to be looked at, but for God's sake don't stare at them like they're on the menu. Remember...they do have eyes too.

i hate to say this guys, but we really do suck (pt.1)

"Why does she dress like that if she doesn't want us looking????

It's a question many guys have asked. Usually after getting a dirty look, told off or even slapped by the chick in the low cut top. Why is she offended by getting a little attention when she obviously chose her outfit to get noticed? answer: she's not. Trouble is, we rarely pay just a LITTLE attention.

the weed debate

So I was reading an argument on tumbler today ( yeah I know)  about pot. It started the way they usually do....someone made a disparaging comment about weed, and some pothead got his panties in a bunch. it started with how fucking annoying potheads are...and you are... It came down, as it usually does, to is marijuana addictive...

Panderer in chief

Question for the LBGT community:
how are you not outraged? Seriously, I don't get it.

I have long considered myself a straight advocate. I agree with Dr. King's statement "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere", and I'm proud that my state's lawmakers have finally pulled their collective heads out of their asses and voted to legalize gay marriage in NY.

But you're not really buying this are you?

Inauguration

Ok... this is my first blog post

Ever... and I have no idea what I'm doing, or if anyone will ever even read it.
But God hates a coward right? So let's get to it, shall we?
